How many pillows do you have on your bed?

We have six. Four of those I think of as sleeping pillows and two are more for display (though I like to think of  them as “movie watching” pillows as they provide the perfect support for watching a movie in bed). Out of the six, I sleep with two and Brandon only sleeps with one, so six may seem like a lot to have on the bed, but I can’t help, I want a mountain of pillows. That feeling extends beyond the bedroom, too. I love a couch that’s filled with piles of soft pillows, and I’m even thinking of getting a few floor pillows to dress up our living room. Wouldn’t that be cozy? As for color, I prefer a clean palette in the bedroom (ours are all white), but in the living room, I like using pillows to add different textures and colors into the space. It’s necessary when you have a solid white couch!

What’s your pillow style?

  1. I use two airy down pillows which I love. Most hotels I stay in have the right kind of pillows but sometimes they are too big (two would make it too high but one is not high enough) which can be very frustrating. Typical Japanese pillows which many people here prefer are very hard (you cannot bury your head into one - it’s more like a brick) so you always use just one.

My sofa (which is more like a day bed) is full of cushions of all kind. I used to keep one pillow on it but it got worn out.

    • I love down pillows! I can’t sleep any other way. I struggle in hotels too, the pillows just never seem right. I don’t think I’d fare very well with Japanese style pillows- I require lots of head burying!

  2. I really like the greens and blues in those pillows from the first picture!

My husband and I each have two pillows. I’d like some decorative ones, but we um….never make the bed. Embarrassing, but true!

    • I know, it can seem kind of silly putting all those pillows on the bed everyday. I’m one of those crazy people who can’t sleep in an un-made bed- so I spend entirely too much time making mine!

  3. I’m a one-pillow girl…and a memory foam pillow at that! I started sleeping with a memory foam pillow a few years ago and have never looked back. I love the look of decorative pillows, although I’ve never splurged on any!

    • I know, they can be kind of a splurge. I found my couch pillows at Home Goods- so cheap, and I used those 20% off coupons from Bed, Bath, and Beyond for practically every pillow on my bed. Helps a bit!
