I have to admit, cereal is one of my very favorite things — I just never seem to grow tired of it! However, I do like to think that cereal either falls into the breakfast or dessert category. Breakfast always includes whole grains, fruit, and not much sugar. Dessert types on the other hand, are much more fun.

While I have been making my own granola for a while (and rely on it most mornings), it never crossed my mind to try making other varieties from scratch. Of course, after seeing this post yesterday for Homemade Cinnamon Toast Crunch, all that has promptly changed. While I doubt I’ll be making it weekly, I think homemade cereal would be perfect for overnight guests, sending to a friend, or just a sleepy weekend morning. What do you think, would you try it?

Here are 3 recipes that caught my eye:

Cinnamon Toast Crunch
Cocoa Puffs
Nutty Bran Flakes

  1. Thanks for this post! I’ve made granola as well, but haven’t ventured deeper into the homemade cereal realm. Now I plan to give it a go!

  2. I would LOVE to make my own Cinnamon Toast Crunch! It’s usually such a guilty pleasure for me.

    • I know! It’s my favorite, although I generally stick to the organic variety:)

  3. That’s a great idea! I’ve never thought of making my own cereal. I love eating them but I feel that the ones in the market are full of preservatives and sugar. Going to check the recipes now =) Thanks again! xoxo

  4. The cocoa puffs are so ridiculously easy!! Thanks for linking to Marta’s site- it’s gorgeous and full of delicious ideas! Am going to try the cocoa puffs
